Hello everyone and welcome to my little blog where I share my experiences as a modern homemaker. If you are new here and you enjoy lifestyle content, tips and tricks, or blogs where I share my journey motherhood, I love it if you subscribed so you don’t miss out on any new posts.

Let’s get started! Today I am going to share with you how my husband and I are settling into our new apartment.

After being in our new apartment for a few days, I have had time to reflect on the process of moving and settling into a new home. I thought packing up a house was a big enough chore, but I did not prepare myself for the task of trying to find a useful place for everything my husband and I were unpacking.

There are still boxes sitting in the living room, waiting to be gone through. For now I have decided to drape a tablecloth over them to make our home look a little less cluttered.

To make matters more exciting, we didn’t own any furniture except a bed when we moved. The reason we unintentionally became minimalists is because our new apartment is not furnished and our old rental was.

If you’re like me and just now having the opportunity to find out how expensive furnishing an apartment is, you may be wondering how you’ll ever afford it. The answer is thrift stores and antique shops. We also did go to Walmart and buy the cheapest folding chairs they had so we didn’t have to keep siting on the floor.

I have also found that there are about a million other things to do when you first move into a new house besides the obvious tasks. For example, finding a good internet provider, registering our cars for parking, and applying for a new post office box. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Even though we are almost completely unpacked, I think the hardest part of this experience is figuring out where to hang the pictures and deciding where I want to put everything away.

That is all I have for you today. Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you in my next one!

  1. Happy to hear your moving experience is moving in the right direction. Yes, there are a million and one things to do. I swear it never gets done. But all of it is your very own creation. You are adding your own personality into every corner. You’re creating magic even if Wal-Mart had a hand in it. Enjoy!!!
