Hello everyone and welcome back to my little blog!
Now that I am officially “on maternity leave” and am a homemaker again I thought I would rebudget my time.
When I was working 45 hours a week I would hurricane clean my house every weekend and that was the most unrelaxing housekeeping routine I’ve ever had.
Now that I’m staying home again I’m so much more peaceful and relaxed about everything, including the mundain housekeeping tasks that I normally don’t love.
I currently have my day divided up into 4 different time zones which I will be sharing with you in this post.
Wake the Heck Up Girl
This part of my day consists of me pushing the snooze button as much as I can before I absolutely must wake up.
It isn’t the greatest habit but I feel like it helps me relax into the day. I will go on my phone for 15 minutes and check my emails and notifications, and if I have time left over I might even watch a cleaning video on YouTube to get me motivated.
Next I feed my furry little family members and then I feed myself so I’m not a hangry yelling wife.
After that I pour myself a cup of coffee and while I drink it, I catch up on my blog.
Then I set aside 30 minutes to do my self improvement activity for the day. Currently I have a list of choices that include: lifting weights, reading a book, yoga, practicing guitar, painting my nails or knitting.
After that I shower and put on my makeup. I feel like if you stay home it’s easy to just throw on some yoga pants and put your hair in a messy bun. However, I feel like when I take some time to wash my face and wear an actual outfit I feel better and am usually more productive.
Clean the Darn House
This part of my day is when I clean the house. It has consistantly been my least favorite part of homemaking from day one. If anyone has any tips on how to overcome laziness when it comes to cleaning, I would love to hear them.
Anyway, I’ll usually start in mine and my husband’s bedroom by making the bed and tidying up.
Then I’ll go downstairs and throw in a load of laundry.
While that washes I unload the dishwasher and sweep the kitchen.
Then I will move on to the living room where I tidy up and sweep.
After that, I pay any bills we have due that day and of course by then the laundry is done so I will force myself to fold and put it away.
Next, I’ll spend 30 minutes working on a “weekly chore”. Right now I have a list I can choose from of wiping down the appliances and cupboards, cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning out the fridge and sanitizing it, or yardwork.
When I’m done with that I’m pretty much famished so I’ll make myself some lunch.
Get Out of the House
This is an essential part of my day because when I’m a homemaker it can be so easy to just stay home and that is not good for my mental health. So I make it a point to leave the house every day weather it be for a 30 minute walk with my dog, going to Walmart for groceries, or going to the gym. To me it doesn’t really matter what I’m doing as long as I get out of the house and interact with humans.
Put the House to Bed and Relax
After I come home, I get started on dinner so it’s ready when my husband gets home from work. After dinner I put all the dirty dishes from the day in the dishwasher, and wipe down the counters.
Next I relax with my husband for a few hours and then we go to bed.
I know it probably doesn’t seem like I do a lot but I have truely been loving the privilege of being able to stay home and relax all day again, and I would love to know what you guys do when you have the opportunity to stay home?
Thanks for joining me today!

Well done for making the choice to bring your children up. Its a tough one that get so many judgements these days but I would say you are making the best choice if you can. Splitting your day into sections sounds a good idea.

Nice to have a little bit of routine going to keep busy while waiting for the baby. Enjoy it all you can, because the work really begins when the little one is there. 🙂
